The first webinar of the Global Internet Policy Observatory “Introduction to Global Internet Policy Observatory online platform” will take place on 30th April at 14:00 – 15:00 CET.
In April 2015 the website of the Project that will help to build the Global Internet Policy Observatory (GIPO) initiative of the European Commission (DG CONNECT) is being launched. GIPO is an initiative of the European Commission monitoring Internet-related policy, regulatory and technological developments across the world. The project has started on 1st January 2015 and will last for a period of 3 years. The website constitutes one of the possibilities to ensure the engagement of a broad Internet community in the creation of a main GIPO tool.
GIPO will help users to understand and monitor Internet-related policy, as well as regulatory and technological developments across the world. It enables users to identify the positions of different stakeholders, topics under discussion in key international events and to have a broader understanding of who does what in general. GIPO will make this information available to all actors, including countries, NGOs and interest groups, who often feel marginalised in Internet debates and decisions.
This workshop is the first of a series of 7 webinars and 2 workshops that are organised to update and engage the community in an active discussion on the development of the platform.
The workshop is mainly dedicated to policy experts engaged in Internet Governance communities, technology experts working on similar tools and technologies, as well as overlapping Internet Governance communities (technology experts of the text mining community and the “applied technological” experts for the technology-enabled policy making community).
