The MAFEIP study (Support Services for the Management and Utilization of Monitoring and Assessment of the EIP-MAFEIP Tool) has been carried out by Open Evidence and empirica between December 2016 and November 2017. Its aim has been to facilitate the use of the MAFEIP tool by members of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP on AHA). Now, in the framework of the newly launched EIP on AHA support action “Widening the support for large scale uptake of Digital Innovation for Active and Healthy Ageing — WE4AHA”, we are continuing taking care of refining the tool and widening the users’ community.
Based on the feedback received from the users so far, improvements to both the tool and the website have been implemented in order to increase MAFEIP’s flexibility and adaptability to complex interventions and to facilitate its adoption as an analytical framework in Europe.
The new website is visually modelled after the EIP on AHA portal and aligned with WE4AHA requirements. The study team has made available the relevant information about MAFEIP in a dedicated User Support section where the MAFEIP Users’ Guide and other training and support materials can be accessed. Apart from the better integration of materials and the restructuring of the content, tailored messages explain to the different users’ categories how they could benefit from MAFEIP.
With respect to the tool, an updated version based on use case experiences has been released. Apart from a number of improvements to the user interface, MAFEIP offers now new functionalities e.g. the optional inclusion of additional health states (with the possibility to select between 3-, 4- and 5-state Markov model), the possibility to specify the patient distribution over the health states, the option to distinguish the one-off costs from annual costs of current care, among others.
If you want to learn more about the newly introduced improvements and have your intervention to be assessed using the (updated) MAFEIP tool, join the community!
Moreover, if you are planning to join the upcoming EIP on AHA Conference of Partners 2018, don’t miss the session “MAFEIP 2.0: Decision to invest, Decision to buy” on the 28th February. We will showcase the new tool and how it can be used to assess the cost-effectiveness of a wide range of interventions supporting the EIP on AHA members in their decision-making process.
