The Commission is planning to evaluate and review the application of the Web Accessibility Directive (Directive 2016/2102) by June 2022 in line with the Better Regulation Guidelines. The objective of this study is to support the Commission in evaluating and reviewing the Directive. This study provides useful evidence and insights to the Commission by carrying out different activities including desk research, multiple in-depth interviews with stakeholders and experts in the sector, one open public consultation in the form of an online survey, and the analysis and evaluation of the reports on the progress made in implementing the Directive published by Member States by December 2021. In conclusion, the Consortium shares with the Commission multiple policy recommendations drawn from the evidence gathered during the study, to inform the actions that DG CONNECT can take in order to improve the initiative.
