New report on human-robot interaction in the workplace

Open Evidence and VVA (now EY) conducted the study ‘Impact of new developments in human-machine interaction on work organisation and working conditions’ for the European Foundation for the Improvement of Living and Working Conditions (Eurofound). The study involved conducting complementary literature review and seven case studies of establishments that adopted robot technologies at the workplace, analysing the impacts for work organisation and working conditions. The case studies were conducted through field visits at the establishments, interviews with key staff (line managers, HR managers, technology providers, worker representatives) and focus groups with employees.

Eurofound published a consolidated report based on the case studies and comparative analysis conducted by Open Evidence and VVA, complemented with additional data on robot adoption from Eurostat, the International Federation of Robotics and the EU-OSHA’s OSH Pulse survey.
